In this blog, we’ll be posting up our observations on nature in a suburban environment.
With an acre of land, half of which is wooded, a quarter is turf/lawn, and the remainder is various plantings, we see a fair amount of birds, mammals, and the occasional reptile. We have plenty of insects, some of which are welcome and others, such as mosquitoes, not welcome. We have many native and introduced plants. Unfortunately, we also have plenty of invasive species, such as buckthorn, calling our property home.
We intend to post pictures whenever possible of our observations, for a picture can say so much that words can not. There will be no set schedule to our posts, however, as our posts will be prompted by what we observe here at our homestead.
